How to Enter the World of VR (Meta Quest 3 / Quest 3S Beginner's Guide)

Step 1: You need these 3 things
A VR Headset
You need a VR headset, which can be purchased at any store.
A Meta Account
The Meta Horizon App
Download the Meta Horizon App on your smartphone . You will use this app to activate your headset, manage your Meta account, configure your headset settings, purchase games, and handle store credits.
Step 2: Activate Your VR Headset
Claim Your Referral Bonus
Before turning on your VR headset, take a moment to claim your referral bonus. If your Meta account is referred by a friend, you can receive $60 of in-game store credit when you activate your headset for the first time. So, before powering it on, find a friend's referral code and accept their invitation. Once you do that and activate your headset, you'll get the $30 in-game credit.
- If you don't have a friend's referral code, you can use mine: https://www.meta.com/referrals/link/Fish1001
Turning On the Headset
Wear the headset and power it on. You'll be guided through an initial setup process. Take note of the
pairing code that will appear on the screen during setup.
Binding Your Meta Account to Your Headset
- After turning on your headset for the first time, it may require a system update. This may take some time.
- Open the Meta Quest App on your smartphone. The app will detect the new headset and prompt you to enter the pairing code that you noted earlier. Enter the code in the app, and the pairing between your Meta account and the headset will be completed.

Step 3: Basic Operations
Return to Home Screen
To return to the Home Lobby at any time, simply press the "Meta" button on the right-hand controller (this works similarly to a phone's Home button). If you ever feel lost in a VR app or menu, just press this button to go back to the home screen.Select and Execute Actions
When holding the controller, you can point at the target you want to select. To make a selection or execute an action, press the trigger button (the button under your index finger, similar to tapping on a smartphone). Think of the trigger button as a tap or click action.Reset the View
If your screen view gets misaligned or your position in VR feels off, you can reset the view. Hold down the Meta button on the right-hand controller for 3 seconds while looking straight ahead. This will reset the screen and re-center it to be directly in front of you, so everything will realign properly. This is especially useful if the screen view or orientation is out of place.

Step 4: Must-Have Accessories
Elite Head Strap
The original head strap can be tricky to adjust, especially if multiple people are using the headset. The Elite Head Strap offers better comfort and stability and makes adjustments much easier, particularly for different users.Controller Grips
The default controllers can be a bit slippery, and during intense movements, they may fly out of your hands. Adding controller grips will not only secure the controller to your hands but also increase grip and friction, making it safer during gameplay.Power Bank
The Meta Quest 3 can drain battery quite quickly. To extend your playtime, it's a good idea to buy two power banks and alternate between them while playing. Look for power banks that provide 18W output or higher so you can charge the headset while continuing to play.Prescription Lens Inserts
If you wear glasses, investing in prescription lens inserts for the headset can make it more convenient and provide clearer vision. For users who share the headset with others, consider magnetic lens inserts that can be easily removed or swapped out between users, ensuring both comfort and clarity.
With these accessories, you'll have a much more comfortable, safe, and extended VR experience!

Step 5: Beginner Games
When you're just starting out, it's helpful to play simple tutorial games to quickly learn the basic operations in VR. Here are some great entry-level games to help you get used to your Meta Quest:
First Steps
This is the first game you should play as a VR beginner. It provides a fun and interactive way to learn the basic VR controls. After playing it once, you should have a good understanding of how to navigate and interact in virtual reality.First Encounters
A simple and enjoyable shooting game that's easy to pick up right from the start. It's great for practicing aim and getting used to handling VR controllers in a fast-paced environment.Beat Saber (Demo)
One of the most popular and beginner-friendly VR games. Beat Saber is a rhythm-based game where you slash through blocks with lightsabers to the beat of the music. It's fun, addictive, and a fantastic introduction to the VR world. The demo version is free and gives you a great taste of the full experience.
These games will help you get familiar with the Meta Quest controls and will quickly boost your confidence in using the headset! Enjoy your time in VR!
